We all know Disney World is a family vacation destination, but there is plenty to do for just adults! If you are a couple without kids or planning your adult-only vacation, we’ve got everything you need right here to find out which Disney resort is best for you. Are you looking for romance, maybe some jam-packed recreation, or maybe just a budget-friendly relaxing weekend? Disney World offers something for every situation. Here’s our list of the best Disney Resorts for couples!
Best Budget Friendly Resorts
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside
Disney’s Port Orleans — Riverside offers quaint scenery, fabulous walking trails, relaxing boat rides on the Sassagoula River, and more. This Moderate Resort also features a pool, hot tub, pool bar, quick service dining, and table service dining options. The rooms are also a bit more spread out, which makes it quieter compared to other resorts.
One of the best things about staying at Port Orleans Resort is that you have direct access to Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter! French Quarter is a much smaller resort, which makes it louder, busier, and more fast-paced than Riverside. But, we still recommend making the walk over to the hotel to try the famous Mickey Beignets. If you are feeling adventurous, try the Boozy Beignets!
And, if you find yourself hungry for a more substantial meal, check out Boatwright’s Dining Hall. This table service restaurant is regarded as a hidden gem among many Disney fans. It’s easy to get a reservation here, and a walk-up list is also usually available for any last-minute plans. Don’t sleep on the prime rib if you do dine here!
All of that is great, but the top reason for putting this on our best resort with no kids list? Direct boat access to Disney Springs! Disney boat service runs along the Sassagoula River all day, every day transporting guests to and from Disney Springs. And, with Disney Springs being a fantastic date night spot, you can easily take advantage of all it has to offer including bowling, tons of restaurants, live shows, live music, and more!
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort
Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort actually doubles as a convention center. And, because of this, there are many “deluxe” amenities at this moderately priced resort! It’s the sheer number of amenities for the price that puts this hotel in our budget-friendly category.
Coronado Springs is a large resort, making this a great spot for someone who is interested in a quiet and relaxing weekend. Club-level rooms, which typically are only a perk of Disney Deluxe Resorts are also offered here, along with a spa.
Guests can relax by the pool with the sounds of the Mayan Ruins waterfall behind them, soak in the largest whirlpool spa on Disney property, enjoy a day at the spa or early morning workout at the fitness center, jog the .9 mile trail around the lake, and even participate in art or mixology classes!
Eating is also a highlight at Coronado Springs with a huge variety of options just steps away from your room. Enjoy a quick service meal any time of the day in the main lobby or at the pool bar. Or, if you’re looking for a place to sit down and watch your favorite sports team, Rix Sports Bar and Grill has you covered. Lounges include the Barcelona Lounge, Dahlia Lounge, and Three Bridges Bar & Grill which all offer a menu of specialty drinks and small bites.
Most Romantic/Luxurious Resorts
Disney’s Riviera Resort
One of the newest resorts on property is Disney’s Riviera Resort. It may be smaller in size, but it packs a big punch. This is a Deluxe Villa, which means it is in the most expensive category of resorts and is also part of the Disney Vacation Club.
If you’re looking for a place to relax, head to the pool, hot tub, or seating areas on the white sandy beaches around the lake. Or, if you want to have a bit more fun, there are some outdoor games available including cornhole, bocce ball, and chess.
Signature dining is steps away at Topolinos Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera, with rooftop views of fireworks at night after an intimate dinner inspired by the French and Italian rivieras. For breakfast, guests at Topolino’s Terrace are joined by Mickey and friends for a highly sought-after character breakfast. Le Petit Cafe offers specialty coffees. And, there is a quiet “library” next to the cafe if you need to get some work done or just want to relax while you sip your coffee. And, for a quicker meal, Primo Piatto offers some of the best quick service dining options on property. But, the real star of the show here is Bar Riva, a tucked-away pool bar with great views, great food, and great booze!
Additionally, the Skyliner drops guests at the International Gateway entrance of EPCOT, a great spot for a date night or daytime stroll around the World Showcase or Disney’s BoardWalk.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
When you think of luxury at Walt Disney World, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is immediately at the top of the list. This Victorian-style resort immerses you in the golden age of luxury. And, with such luxury, comes a higher price. This is one of the most expensive resorts on property, so keep that in mind.
Guests will find no shortage of great food, including the AAA Five Diamond Award-winning, Victoria and Alberts. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience with a strict dress code and a custom 10-course menu. But, if you’re not looking to spend $400 a person on dinner, Narcossee’s and Citricos are two other delicious signature dining options at the hotel. Both restaurants typically will have fewer kids than your average table service restaurant, creating more quiet and romantic settings. And, for a nightcap, the Enchanted Rose Lounge is a must-do. Try and schedule a dining reservation around Magic Kingdom fireworks times to watch the fireworks during your dinner!
The lobby features live music on the piano, there are specialty shops to explore, and a tearoom where guests can enjoy breakfast or afternoon tea (NOTE: this is currently unavailable. Be sure to check the website for availability). Outside, the pool offers fabulous views with a waterfall and slide where you can rent a poolside cabana. There are also quiet pools around the property attracting more peace and quiet.
The Senses Spa is also located here and it offers body treatments, hair services, manicures, and couple’s massages. Guests with spa treatments booked have access to multiple spa amenities such as the relaxation room before and after your treatments. Couples can spend all day enjoying quality and quiet time together at this luxurious spa.
Best Recreational Resorts
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort
Immerse yourself into the quaintness of the woods, taking a step back from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks! Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort offers campsites for tent and RV camping, as well as individual cabins.
The cabins provide a separate bedroom, bathroom, living room, and a full kitchen. Every cabin has a deck attached with a picnic table, and there is nothing better than waking up and drinking your coffee on that deck every morning! There are two settlement stores with limited amounts of food guests can purchase to cook at their cabin if you are looking for a cozy night in.
While it is a step back from the parks, there is no shortage of things to do. Guests can fish, kayak, take archery lessons, rent a boat for a few hours, horseback ride, take a carriage ride, or attend the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue dinner show! If you are driving to Disney, many guests bring their bikes for transportation. But, golf cart rentals are also available. Guests can also enjoy a main pool and quiet pool both with hot tubs.
And, when it’s time to hit the parks, Fort Wilderness is a quick boat ride to Magic Kingdom!
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
If you want to be close to Disney Springs and the Disney golf courses, PLUS have access to some Deluxe Resort amenities, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is the place to be!
The buildings here are spread out around the opening of the Sassagoula River, making this a wonderful place to take a nighttime stroll and see the skyline of Disney Springs. And, Disney Springs is within walking distance! At the end of the night, Disney transportation can get backed up when everyone is trying to leave Disney Springs at the same time, making this a great perk for adults who may be enjoying dinner or drinks.
And, if a round of golf in the morning sounds like a treat, the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course greens line the perimeter of Saratoga Springs. If golfing is your thing, you couldn’t be any closer! Disney’s golf courses have been formerly featured on the PGA and LPGA tours and are very well-kept. There are also two full 18-hole courses, one 9-hole walking course, and a driving range located across property near the Polynesian Resort. Guests can get free transportation to the other courses with a tee time booked by going to guest services and showing the reservation. Golf clubs are also available for rent from the clubhouse or you can bring your own.
Disney’s Beach Club Resort
If someone mentions the best pool on Disney property, the answer is going to be Stomalong Bay. Disney’s Beach Club Resort gives guests full access to luxury pool amenities such as multiple water slides, white sand beaches, sand bottom pools, a lazy river, and multiple hot tubs. The pool is great, but that’s not all that is great about the Beach Club!
Located right next to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s BoardWalk, you can find pretty much anything you could ever need within walking distance. Guests can access boat rentals, rent a poolside cabana, take a walk to one of Disney’s miniature golf courses, go fishing, take a fireworks cruise, go out for drinks, and more!
Yachtsman Steakhouse is the signature dining restaurant on property offering what many call the best steaks on property. There is a dress code listed on the website, so if you have your sights on steaks, plan accordingly! And, just a short walk away is Disney’s Boardwalk, offering a variety of bars, lounges, late-night snacks, and a dueling pianos bar, Jellyrolls! There is also a dance hall if dancing the night away is your thing.
The location of this resort also puts you just steps away from EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance, and a short boat ride away from Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Being the two most “adult” parks, this is a prime location for park hopping between the two.
