Grab your Jedi robes and get ready to head to one of the most immersive lands in all of Walt Disney World! In this guide, we break down everything there is to know about Star Wars Galaxyβs Edge to be sure you make the most of your time!
Where is Star Wars Galaxyβs Edge?
Star Wars Galaxyβs Edge, also known as the planet of Batuu, is located at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. The two lands are nearly identical when it comes to the attractions, dining options, shopping, and character encounters, so you can head to either coast and enter the immersive world of Star Wars.

At Disney World, Galaxyβs Edge is located in Disneyβs Hollywood Studios theme park. Situated in the back of the park, you can enter Star Wars Galaxyβs Edge from Grand Avenue or through the back of Toy Story Land. Galaxyβs Edge opened in August 2019 and was one of the most highly anticipated land openings ever in Walt Disney World.
As you make your way to the themed land, youβll slowly start to recognize the changes in theming, sounds, and smells as you step through the tunnel into the Black Spire Outpost on Batuu (if youβre coming from Grand Avenue).

For those educated in the Star Wars Universe, Batuu is a planet on the Outer Rim territories, with the period being set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, or Episodes 8 and 9, respectively.
Star Wars Galaxyβs Edge Atmosphere
Batuu is set as an old, remote, busy trade route that was forgotten about with the rise of hyperspace travel. Now that it is off the beaten path, the planet has become popular for anyone trying to avoid the First Order, such as smugglers and traders. And, as a newbie to the planet, thereβs a whole lot for you to explore and do while youβre there!
Throughout Galaxyβs Edge, you can ride world-class attractions, shop street markets, and grab treats unique to the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars Galaxyβs Edge Terminology
To make the land even more immersive for guests, Disney created a special language for the planet of Batuu. Known as Batuuese, some common phrases youβll hear are:
- Bright suns: good morning
- Rising moons: good evening
- Refreshers: restrooms
- Hydrators: water fountains
- Credits: money/dollars
- βTil the spires: goodbye
- Younglings/Padawans: children
Character Interactions in Star Wars Galaxyβs Edge at Disney World
Unlike the rest of Disney World, you wonβt find traditional meet and greets here. Instead, youβll be walking among the characters throughout the land! So, you may run into Rey, Chewbacca, R2D2, The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Kylo Ren and his Stormtroopers. These characters roam around the land as if it is their home (because, well, it is!). Donβt be intimidated by the Stormtroopers – they may stop you and ask for information about the Resistance and you can decide where your loyalties lie.

Note that you wonβt find all of the famous Star Wars characters around Batuu. Due to the strict timeline that the planet is set in from the movies, you wonβt run into Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker or Princess Leia.
Star Wars Galaxyβs Edge Rides
Galaxyβs Edge offers two major attractions for guests to enjoy including Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Rise of the Resistance. They are well known as two of the most popular rides in all of Disney World thanks to how immersive and well-themed they are.
Hereβs what you need to know before you hop in line!
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Have you ever wanted to pilot the Millennium Falcon? Well, now you can!
On Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, guests enter one of the fastest, most famous βpieces of junkβ in the galaxy – the Millennium Falcon! Not only can you step inside the ship and explore, but you also get to control it!

Guests, aka the flight crew, are assigned one of three roles: Pilot, Gunner, or Engineer. The flight crew is tasked with working together to fly and keep the ship stable, with the two pilots flying the ship, the gunners firing the weapons, and the engineers working hard to repair the ship. The ride works with real-time technology, so the better your flight crew does, the longer your experience will be.

The story goes that Hondo (a character from the Star Wars Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels animation series) is recruiting smugglers to help transport goods to the Resistance. Throughout the queue, you can play interactive games through the Play Disney app and take in the sights of the Millennium Falcon. Plus, you can even sit at the famous Dejarik table, the holographic chess table popular throughout many movies while you wait. The line is almost as cool as the ride!

Note that this attraction has a 38-inch height requirement and is eligible for Lightning Lane Multi Pass, with a free single rider lane or standby line available as well.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
You become part of the Resistance and battle the First Order on the one-of-a-kind attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

The story goes that while being transported through the Outer Rim on a Resistance transporter, your ride is captured by a First Order Star Destroyer with Kylo Ren on board. Resistance fighters are ready to help you and your crew escape, but it wonβt come easy!
Rise of the Resistance is unlike any other Disney World ride and is a much more immersive experience with multiple components. Youβll start in a pre-show room, hop aboard a motion simulator transporter, step foot onto the Star Destroyer where youβre taken into a captivity room, and end your journey on a trackless ride system as you try to escape!

This ride has a 40-inch height requirement, is eligible for Lightning Lane Single Pass, and has a free standby line. We have seen a single rider Line available here every once in a while during busier seasons.
Star Wars Galaxyβs Edge Food and Drinks
Kat Sakaβs Kettle
Kat Saka is a grain merchant who runs a snack stall inside the street market. This shop sells specialty, colorful popcorn, and beverages. The famous Outpost Mix is a blend of sweet and spicy flavors, while the most popular beverage is the Cold Brew Black Caf, a Joffreyβs Coffee cold view topped with sweet cream cheese and chocolate puffs.
Milk Stand
Luke Skywalkerβs famous scene with the blue milk in Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope is finally brought to life at Batuuβs Milk Stand! Here you can purchase non-alcoholic or alcoholic blue or green milk. These frothy drinks are plant-based blends of coconut and rice milk. The blue milk is more fruity, while the green milk is heavy on the citrus.

Ronto Roasters
Open for breakfast and lunch, Ronto Roasters is a popular stop for trade crews preparing for their next mission. A podracer engine with a pitmaster droid serves up meat, or βronto,β a beast native to the planet of Tatooine.
For breakfast, the Ronto Morning Wrap offers eggs, grilled pork sausage, cheese, and peppercorn sauce in pita bread. Overnight Oats and a plant-based wrap option are also available. For lunch, guests can enjoy a pita filled with roasted pork, grilled sausage, peppercorn sauce, and tangy slaw. Pork rinds can be purchased as a snack, as can a plant-based wrap and a variety of beverages.

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo
This quick service restaurant is a working hanger bay with dishes prepared with ingredients from all over the galaxy. Each dish has a flare from some of the most popular planets. Exotic offerings (or, at least, exoticly-named offerings) are provided by a docked food freighter ready to service all customers. Indoor and outdoor seating are available.

Open for lunch and dinner, guests can indulge in unique plates such as Battuan Beef, Kashyyyk Beef and Sweet Topato Salad, Endorian Fried Chicken, Peka Tuna Poke, and Kaddu Pork Ribs. These playful, immersive dishes are essentially common American meals like fried chicken, smoked ribs, and salads. Donβt be discouraged by the namesβthis is some of the best food at Hollywood Studios!

Ogaβs Cantina
Inspired by the Mos Eisley Cantina in Star Wars Episode IVβA New Hope, Oga’s Cantina is a local meeting spot for bounty hunters, smugglers, traders, and travelers to refuel, enjoy music, and rest before their next mission through the galaxy. DJ R-3X, a former star speeder pilot who you might recognize from the original Star Tours attraction, offers entertainment throughout the cantina, keeping the fun alive.

While the cantina is open for lunch and dinner, it isnβt a spot to plan a full meal. Ogaβs Cantina is considered a lounge In Disney World with unique drink concoctions (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and a handful of snacks. Food options include a Happabore Sampler, a play on a charcuterie board, or Batuu Bits (which is similar to a Chex mix).
Specialty beers are on tap for purchase, as are unique cocktails sure to intrigue anyone who tries them. The Fuzzy Tauntaun is a vodka drink topped with tingling foam, while the Bespin Fizz, a rum-based drink, will quite literally smoke upon arrival. For non-alcoholic versions, the Carbon Freeze is filled with popping pearls, and the Blue Bantha is blue milk served with a vanilla sugar cookie.

This is one of the most popular lounges in Disney World, making it difficult to snag a spot if you arenβt on top of your reservations. Advanced reservations are highly recommended through the My Disney Experience app and walk-up availability is limited.
Things To Do In Star Wars Galaxyβs Edge
In addition to the character interactions and the overall atmosphere of Galaxyβs Edge, there is plenty to keep all ages entertained throughout the land.
Black Spire Outpost
The market of the Blake Spire Outpost is filled with different shops to explore, ranging from Black Spire Outfitters to the Den of Antiquities, Resistance Supply, or, for the dark side, First Order Cargo. Guests can also visit the Creature Stall for their chance to purchase exotic creatures from around the galaxies or the Toydarian Toymaker for handcrafted toys made by local dealers.

Saviβs Workshop
For a while now, guests have been able to create their own plastic lightsabers at Hollywood Studios. But Saviβs Workshop takes this experience to the next level for the most dedicated Star Wars fans.
At Saviβs Workshop, you can customize and construct your own replica glass lightsabers equipped with hand-selected kyber crystals and more. This experience requires an advanced reservation and costs $249.99 per lightsaber plus tax. Note that Disney allows the lightsaber builder to bring one guest with them to observe.

Droid Depot
Similar to Saviβs Workshop, guests have the chance to visit the Droid Depot and create their very own droid unit! Guests choose from two droid series to build, then follow instructions and monitor displays to assemble the droid and link it with its remote control!
Droid builders can bring one observer along, and each unit costs $119.99 plus tax. Advanced reservations are required.

Star Wars Datapad: Play Disney App
As soon as you enter Batuu, guests can turn their phone into a Star Wars Universe Datapad and live out their own Star Wars story! The datapad can translate languages, scan objects, and decrypt and hack devices throughout the land.
The datapad is a fun and unique way to explore Batuu. Youβll choose which βjobsβ you want to take on throughout the land as you ally with either the First Order or the Resistance. Which will you choose?
