Let’s be honest, when traveling to Walt Disney World with kids, they run the show. Children play a significant role in determining which rides you ride and which shows you see. However, when you have the chance to have an adults-only Disney day, YOU get to make the rules and that means that you don’t need to waste time waiting in line for rides that will leave you wanting more. So, what Disney World attractions do adults skip?
As an avid Disney fan who has been to Disney parks hundreds of times, I’ve experienced everything Disney World has to offer — and multiple times! In this guide, I’m filling you in on the attractions I skip as a Disney adult, and why. Of course, everyone’s priorities are different – my everyday skips might be your everyday favorites! Every attraction has its pros and cons. While I’m not telling you never to experience these, I will tell you better ways to spend your precious adult time at Disney World.
Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom is the most kid-oriented theme park in Walt Disney World, so there are quite a few attractions that adults might want to skip. Here are my five skips at Magic Kingdom, and what to ride instead!

Tomorrowland Speedway
When I was a kid visiting Disney World, Tomorrowland Speedway was always at the top of my list. Getting to drive a car as an eight-year-old kid? A dream! So, I certainly understand the appeal it has to families.

However, as an adult, I have a driver’s license and can drive freely whenever I want, making this attraction more of a smelly slow-paced joy ride. Unless this ride holds a special spot in your heart, you can skip this one — your back will thank you! Instead, save your car-riding anticipation for Test Track at EPCOT.
Astro Orbiter
Astro Orbiter is a spinner-style attraction where guests board a spaceship and fly in circles high up above Tomorrowland. Located centrally in Tomorrowland, the line is often…well, frankly, a nightmare. And, after you make it through the line and up the elevator, you’ll be “treated” to an uncomfortable spaceship with the Florida sun pounding down on you.

The ride is the same as Dumbo – The Flying Elephant in Fantasyland and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin in Adventureland. So, if you’re craving a nostalgic spin around Magic Kingdom, I recommend that you head over to Dumbo instead. However, head to Aladdin’s magic carpets if you want some extra space and mild comfort.
Mad Tea Party
Spinning around in fast circles for a minute and a half just isn’t my cup of tea…no pun intended.
The main reason many adults skip this attraction is the motion sickness it causes. But there are also plenty of other rides worth waiting in line for in Magic Kingdom. The loading and unloading process is slow, resulting in long lines, especially when the Lightning Lane line is busy.

The Mad Tea Party is an opening-day attraction, making it a great choice for those seeking nostalgia or looking to preserve the originality of Magic Kingdom. However, if spinning for minutes on end is not your idea of fun, skip this and head to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh or Mickey’s PhilharMagic nearby.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a fun, family-friendly roller coaster — there is no denying that! However, there are other roller coasters at Magic Kingdom that are more worth your time if you’re visiting as an adult.

The attraction consistently has the longest wait times throughout the park, and, while the ride is fun, smooth, ride for families, it can be underwhelming for adults. There are twists, turns, and drops, but none of them are quite as thrilling as the ones you’ll find on Space Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and TRON Lightcycle / Run.
EPCOT
EPCOT is known for its festivals and World Showcase. However, there are some great adult attractions at the park you don’t want to miss too! Save your time and skip these attractions at EPCOT so you can focus on better things!

Journey Into Imagination With Figment
Hidden back in World Celebration is Journey Into Imagination With Figment. This slow-moving ride takes guests on a journey through Figment’s whimsical imagination. In theory, it’s cute, but it is pretty outdated. The animatronics and storyline leave a lot to be desired, and quite frankly, it can feel like the forgotten child of EPCOT.

For those who love Figment, the playful purple flying dragon, then this might be the spot you don’t want to miss, and that’s great! However, if you are indifferent or don’t have a special soft spot for the dragon, skip this ride and head to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure for a fun, colorful whirlwind!
The Seas with Nemo & Friends
The Seas with Nemo & Friends takes you on a slow-moving ride through the story of Disney Pixar’s Finding Nemo, making it one of the best rides for families with little ones. There are no height requirements for this ride and it rarely has a long line — sounds like a great way to cool off for a bit and enjoy an attraction, right? However, there’s really nothing about the ride that appeals to adults unless you love the movie.

If you are a huge Finding Nemo fan, definitely ride it once. If not, head to the Norway Pavilion and take a ride on Frozen Ever After, a more updated and exciting slow boat ride.
Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Hollywood Studios is home to the most thrilling rides in Walt Disney World. Plus, the park also has some of the best live shows on property. That can make for a busy day at the park if you’re trying to do it all. So, if you’re on an adults-only trip, skip these rides to save time to focus on the big attractions instead!

Alien Swirling Saucers
Toy Story Land is home to some great attractions. Toy Story Mania brings out the competition in everyone, and Slinky Dog Dash is one of the most beloved coasters at Disney. However, Alien Swirling Saucers is a ride most adults find disappointing.

Guests hop on board an alien saucer and whip side to side to some futuristic alien music. The line is sometimes short and the ride is fun, but it’s not worth skipping other attractions for. If you have the time, take the ride through space! But focus on the other two Toy Story Land attractions first if you’re short on time.
Animal Kingdom
There aren’t many attractions at Disney’s Animal Kingdom to begin with, but that doesn’t mean you should sleep on what it has to offer! Animal Kingdom could be considered one of the more adult-friendly parks to some, given its slow-paced, nature-focused atmosphere. However, there is one attraction that just is not worth the wait.

Na’vi River Journey
Na’vi River Journey is the only attraction at Animal Kingdom, outside of Kilimanjaro Safari, that does not have a height requirement, which makes it a popular pick among families with little ones. Plus, on top of that, it’s one of only two rides in the most popular part of the park, Pandora — The World of Avatar. All of that combines to make one super long line that never seems to go down.

Na’vi River Journey is a beautiful boat ride through the land of Pandora that takes you into the world of Avatar. But the land itself is so beautiful and well designed (especially at night!) that, between just walking around enjoying the scenery and Pandora’s second attraction, Flight of Passage, you get everything you need from Pandora without needing to go through the long wait for little reward.
