I Stayed at the Universal Terra Luna Resort – Here’s My Full Review of This No-Frills Galactic Getaway

Universal recently expanded its theme park game with the opening of Epic Universe. Along with the five portals, nearly a dozen new rides, and countless dining options came three new hotel options in the area: the Helios Grand Hotel, Stella Nova Resort, and Terra Luna Resort.

As Prime Value Hotels, the latter two are among the cheapest on-site hotels, but that doesn’t make them a bad choice for your upcoming vacation since they still offer Early Park Admission and free transportation to all four parks.

Cheaper hotels always come with some sort of compromise, though. In the case of Stella Nova and Terra Luna, they are further from the CityWalk area and have limited transportation options compared to the Signature Collection resorts.

I recently stayed at the galactic-inspired Terra Luna Resort to check out everything it has to offer guests — from the zero-entry pool to the updated accommodations, convenient dining options, and more.

In this article, I’ll break down the good and bad of staying at Universal’s Terra Luna Resort in Orlando, Florida.

About the Terra Luna Resort at Universal Orlando

The Terra Luna Resort at Universal Orlando is one of three hotels in the Prime Value category, alongside the Stella Nova Resort and Aventura Hotel.

As a Prime Value Resort, you’re guaranteed to find some of the lowest on-site hotel rates. However, that means that there are fewer amenities compared to the Signature Resorts.

Still, Prime Value Resorts shouldn’t be overlooked because they strike a sweet spot between affordability and convenience for travelers who want to stay on-site without paying hundreds of dollars per night.

Overview

  • Hotel Category: Prime Value Resort
  • Price: $133-$367 per night on average
  • Resort Area: Epic Universe

Atmosphere & Theming

According to Universal Orlando, Terra Luna Resort invites guests to explore the unknown and push the limits of discovery. In other words, the hotel has a futuristic, space-inspired theme that feels otherworldly.

You definitely pick up on that vibe before even setting foot in the lobby, thanks to the reflective tiles that cover the exterior of the building.

In terms of atmosphere, Terra Luna tends to be more laid-back, with a calmer energy than some of Universal’s more family-centric resorts (i.e., Cabana Bay).

Dining Options

The Universal Terra Luna Resort mostly offers quick-service dining options. Still, you’re sure to find something to please even the pickiest of eaters.

  • Omega Cafe and Market
  • Moonrise Bar and Moonrise Grill

  • Pizza Delivery

Amenities & Recreation

Terra Luna doesn’t have any amenities that make it stand out compared to other on-site hotels, but that does not mean it is lacking, either.

  • Zero-entry pool with hot tub
  • Arcade
  • Fitness center
  • Universal Studios Store
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Early Park Admission
  • Complimentary shuttle bus to all four Universal theme parks
  • Self-parking ($30/night)
  • Laundry services ($)

Transportation Options

Like all Universal Orlando hotels, the Terra Luna Resort includes complimentary transportation to CityWalk (for Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios), Volcano Bay, and Epic Universe.

  • Bus (Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, Volcano Bay, Epic Universe)
  • Walking path (Epic Universe)

Our Terra Luna Resort Review

I spent three nights at Universal’s Terra Luna Resort in October 2025. It was my first time staying at an on-site hotel, having previously only ever stayed at nearby hotels like the Hyatt Place and Hampton Inn & Suites.

Our three-night stay came to $865.54, including taxes and resort fees, booked through Chase Travel to redeem a $150 credit available through my credit card. As such, we ended up paying around $715 out-of-pocket.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at the Terra Luna Resort, and I’d happily stay here again, even if it isn’t the closest hotel to Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios — here’s why.

The Room

Initially, my partner and I were going to stay off-site and redeem Hyatt points to save money on our Universal trip. However, after going back and forth, we decided the splurge was worth it for the Early Park Admission perk.

Terra Luna happened to be the most affordable hotel for our dates, which ultimately made it the deciding factor.

Traveling on a budget meant we weren’t concerned about the view, so we chose the most affordable option: a standard room with two queen beds.

Although it wasn’t on the table for us at the time, we were surprised to learn that Terra Luna doesn’t have any suites. Instead, the hotel is made up entirely of standard rooms with two queen beds, with the main differences being the view and accessible rooms designed to accommodate guests with mobility limitations.

Anyway, back to our stay. We arrived a little before check-in, but we were told we could go ahead and get our room assignment if we were okay with being a bit farther from the elevators.

Unlike other hotels, such as Cabana Bay or Sapphire Falls, the entirety of Terra Luna is located in one convenient boomerang-shaped building. As such, the hotel is much easier to navigate.

Our 315-square-foot room was located just down the hall from the elevators, and we had a nice view of the large pool area.

We loved our room at the Terra Luna Resort! The beds were comfortable, and the modern, spacey décor was bright and welcoming.

It was well-appointed with a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge, a safe, a full-length mirror, tons of power outlets, and decent storage space. The bathroom was basic yet contemporary, with a large shower and a door that separated the shower and toilet from the vanity area.

The room also included a simple coffee maker and packets of 100% Arabica coffee, though we didn’t take advantage of this. Instead, we stocked our mini-fridge with Alani energy drinks.

Although there wasn’t anything overly fancy about the room, we enjoyed our stay, with the only real complaint being how thin the walls were. It was easy to hear passing conversations outside.

Food and Drinks

We primarily ate in the parks during our visit to Universal Orlando. However, we did take advantage of the Terra Luna Resort’s dining options a few times during our three-night stay.

Omega Cafe and Market

Universal’s Terra Luna Resort doesn’t have a Starbucks on-site. However, coffee and other refreshments are available at the Omega Cafe and Market, along with grab-and-go food items, ice cream, and made-to-order dishes.

We ended up grabbing dinner at the Omega Cafe one night after staying at Islands of Adventure until closing at 8:00 p.m. Rather than waste time eating in the park, we wanted to take advantage of the shorter crowds and pack in a few more rides

My partner and I ordered two entrées from the cafe side of the restaurant: a standard cheese pizza and an Asian-inspired steak bowl. The food itself was fine. Nothing memorable, but it served its purpose. Neither was necessarily something we’d go out of our way to order again, but the Terra Luna Resort isn’t a destination dining spot.

Moonrise Bar and Moonrise Grill

After quickly settling into our room, we changed into our bathing suits and hit the pool for a little bit before Halloween Horror Nights began.

We fueled up with some chicken tenders from the walk-up Moonrise Grill counter, and they were delicious — perfectly crispy, well-seasoned, and juicy. Despite being in my mid-20s, I’m a chicken tender connoisseur through and through, so I don’t say that lightly.

Amenities & Recreation

As previously mentioned, there aren’t any amenities at the Terra Luna Resort that really set it apart from other on-site options. However, it still offers enough family-friendly activities to appease everyone.

For starters, there’s an arcade and a complimentary fitness center for those who want more exercise than just the built-in cardio of walking through the theme parks.

Main Pool

One of the highlights is the zero-entry pool, which offers an easy, gradual slope entrance into the water. The pool area also includes a nearby hot tub, plenty of lounge chairs, outdoor movies, and select outdoor games.

Transportation

Universal’s Terra Luna Resort offers bus transportation to all four theme parks. The ride to Epic Universe is the shortest, taking less than five minutes. However, you can also choose to walk to the new theme park on the dedicated walking path.

Universal CityWalk (for Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios) is farther from the hotel because the resort was built on the new Epic Universe campus. As such, you can expect the ride to take longer since it’s a little over three miles away.

Overall Universal Terra Luna Resort Review

Regardless of whether you stay at a Prime Value or Signature Collection hotel, you will benefit from perks like early park admission and complimentary transportation.

We loved the hotel for its balance between cost, cleanliness, and contemporary design, which made the resort feel less like a “value” stay. As such, I’d argue that it is a solid pick for any theme park vacationer.

That said, if you are looking for a resort with better proximity to the main CityWalk parks or more on-site amenities, you may not get the most value compared to other Universal hotel options.

Stay at the Universal Terra Luna Resort if…

  • You want a budget-friendly on-site Universal resort
  • You’re looking for a clean, modern hotel
  • You want easy access to Epic Universe

Skip the Universal Terra Luna Resort if…

  • You want to stay closer to the CityWalk area
  • You prefer hotels with better on-site amenities
  • You want a hotel with suite options for larger groups
