Complete Guide to Renting a Stroller in Disney World

Did you know Walt Disney World spans over 40 miles? Most guests walk anywhere from 10 to 20 miles a day between the parks, resorts, and Disney Springs! So, deciding whether to have a stroller for your kids or not may make or break a magical vacation.

When it comes to traveling, strollers aren’t always the easiest to deal with. But, while they may not be easy, they can be necessary. So, how exactly does renting a stroller at Disney World work? Here’s everything you need to know!

Should You Use a Stroller at Disney World?

When deciding whether you’ll need a stroller at Disney World, it’s important to consider your family’s specific needs and the ages of your children. Do you want to be able to get in a mid-day nap at the parks? Are your kids used to walking far distances? Would you like some extra storage space for snacks and everything else kids need for a park day?

We recommend erring on the side of caution and opting to use a stroller if you’re on the fence. In general, we find that kids are happy they have a place to rest, and the adults are happy that the kids are resting! You may not use a stroller for your bigger kids at home, but they also aren’t walking 10 miles a day in humid Orlando weather every day. Plus, it can be nice to have some extra space for your park bags and souvenirs.

Pro Tip: Buy a clip-on fan from Amazon. You can attach it to almost any type of stroller and it is WELL worth it, especially in the hottest months in Orlando!

Options for Renting a Stroller in Disney World

Disney might be the most magical place on earth, but it is also full of long days, over-tired kids, and overstimulated adults. Even if your kids have outgrown the stroller at home, you may want to consider having one for them after a 12-hour park day. Even the adults wish they had a stroller at one point or another throughout their vacation!

Currently, there are three main options for using a stroller at Walt Disney World:

  • Guests can bring their own stroller from home
  • Rent a stroller directly from the parks
  • Rent a stroller from an offsite rental company

Let’s break down each option, the cost, and the pros and cons!

Bringing a Stroller from Home

The cheapest option to have a stroller at Disney World is to bring your own from home. This will be an easy option if you are driving to the parks. If you are flying, most airlines will let you check your stroller at the gate for free. That said, it means you have to lug the stroller through the airports and may be added stress.

If you have the means of transportation, some guests will go to a Target or Walmart off property and purchase a cheap umbrella stroller. This takes away the stress of the airport!

Rules for Using Strollers at Disney World

If you are bringing a stroller into the parks, whether your own or rented from an offsite facility, there are stroller regulations Disney has in place. This includes:

  • Stroller wagons are not permitted
  • Strollers larger than 31 inches in width and 52 inches in length are not permitted
  • Strollers may be moved by a Cast Member due to operational needs
  • Strollers must be folded up on some Disney transportation, such as parking trams, Disney buses, and small boats

Pros and Cons of Bringing Your Own Stroller

Pros:

  • It’s free!
  • You know your child is comfy in it. This can be particularly important if you want them to nap on the go.
  • You can take it with you everywhere so you don’t have to worry about transferring a sleeping kid back to the hotel after a long park day

Cons:

  • Bulky strollers can be hard to fold up on Disney transportation and become cumbersome
  • Flying with a stroller can be complicated

Renting a Stroller in Disney World

Bringing a stroller might not be an option for your family, and that’s okay! Disney provides options for all situations. At all four Disney Parks, and Disney Springs, guests can rent single and double strollers.

Where to Rent a Stroller in Disney Parks

All rental locations are conveniently located near the entrance gate of each park. And, at Disney Springs it is near the bus drop-off.

The locations within each park are listed below:

  • Magic Kingdom – Magic Kingdom Main Entrance (directly to the right of the turnstiles)
  • EPCOT – EPCOT Main Entrance (to the left of Spaceship Earth) and EPCOT International Gateway
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Oscar’s Super Service
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Garden Gate Gifts
  • Disney Springs – Sundries

Note that stroller rentals are NOT available at any of the Walt Disney World Resorts, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, the mini golf courses, or ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Keep in mind that the stroller MUST remain in the same park that you pick it up from. This means if you are park hopping, you will have to return the stroller to the rental location at your first park and then bring your receipt to pick up a new stroller once you get to your next park.

Pricing

There are two price points for strollers. If you are only renting for one day, the single stroller is $15 for the day, while the double stroller is $31 for the day. If you are renting for multiple days, this price drops to $13 per day for the single stroller and $27 per day for the double. Just note that there is also a $100 credit card deposit for any strollers rented at Disney Springs

The single stroller can hold up to 50lbs, while the double can hold up to 100lbs.

Pros and Cons of Renting a Stroller in Disney World

Pros:

  • It’s convenient — no travel hassle!
  • Discount for multi-day rental
  • Cute Mickey and Minnie designs
  • Economical for single-day rentals

Cons:

  • Guests cannot take the stroller out of the park
  • No strollers at Disney Resorts, water parks, or entertainment areas
  • Strollers are made of hard plastic and don’t recline. They can get hot and may be difficult for children to nap in
  • While it’s rare, it is possible that Disney will run out of strollers by the time you get to the park

Pro Tip: All Disney strollers look identical, so if you rent a stroller from Disney, I suggest you bring something to make your stroller stand out to you! This could be anything from a ribbon to a portable cupholder. Have some fun with it!

Renting a Stroller in Disney World

Renting from an Off-Site Rental Company

There are many off-site companies from which guests can rent strollers. However, there is only one Disney Featured Provider, and that is Scooterbug.

When Disney Resort guests rent a stroller through Scooterbug, guests do not have to be present for the pickup and drop off of the stroller rental at the hotel. Instead, Cast Members take care of that for you.

There are other stroller companies that you can rent strollers from around Walt Disney World. Some popular ones are Kingdom Strollers, Orlando Stroller Rentals, and Magic Strollers. However, just note that Cast Members only accept stroller deliveries from Scooterbug and no other companies. So, you’ll need to plan your schedule to be able to pick up and drop off the stroller rental with the company.

Types of Stroller Rentals

Scooterbug and other off-site rental companies offer many different types of strollers for rent. They have single strollers, double strollers, jogging strollers, and adaptive strollers.

This could be beneficial if you’re looking for a specific type of stroller that you know your children are comfortable with. For example, if you know you are going to be at the parks from open to close, then you may prioritize renting a stroller that reclines so children can nap.

Pricing

Off-site stroller rentals can range anywhere from $11-$24 per day. But, this is based on a minimum four-day rental. You can rent strollers from Scooterbug for less than four days, but the price will rise drastically. In fact, some strollers have a price tag of over $50 for a one-day rental on their website, so be sure to research which is best for you and your family before renting.

Pros and Cons of Using Off-Site Rental Companies

Pros:

  • Cheaper than the park rentals if renting for an extended period of time
  • More variety with stroller selection
  • Guests have the stroller the entire time, not just at the parks
  • Some stroller companies will include attachments such as rain covers

Cons:

  • If renting from a company other than Scooterbug, guests will have to be present for the pick-up and drop-off of the stroller
  • Can be expensive if only renting for one or two days
  • More than likely all strollers will be in good condition, but there is a risk of getting a stroller in not-so-great condition
