Need a place to cool off in Disney World but don’t want to sacrifice on thrill rides? Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is the place for you! Filled with the biggest and best water slides and attractions in Disney World, Blizzard Beach is a must-do for anyone looking for some fun outside of the theme parks.
If you’re thinking about adding it to your Disney itinerary, there are a few things you should know. So, we’re bringing you a look at everything you need to know about Disney’s Blizzard Beach including how much tickets cost, what you can do, where you can eat, and more!
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Overview
Disney’s Blizzard Beach is one of two water parks at Walt Disney World. It opened on April 1st, 1995, and continues to offer a one-of-a-kind experience combining winter and summer themes year after year.
The park’s backstory involves a freak snowstorm hitting Florida, which led to the creation of a ski resort. When the snow eventually began to melt, the area was transformed into a water park, keeping its wintery theme. So, now you’ll feel like you’re walking in a winter wonderland year-round! Blizzard Beach’s theming is evident throughout the park. You’ll see melting snow, ski lifts, and toboggan-style slides. Even the staff uniforms resemble ski patrol outfits, adding to the immersive experience.
The water park is filled to the brim with water slides, places to relax, and pools. Of the two parks, it has the most water slides and is best known for its Mount Gushmore attraction which features a 12-story drop down an artificial snow-capped mountain.
And, when hunger strikes, Blizzard Beach has plenty of options. From quick snacks to full meals, there’s something for everyone. You can also purchase refillable mugs that can be used throughout the day.
The park operates seasonally, typically closing for refurbishment during the warmer months. And, though it’s open when Central Florida is technically a bit cooler, all of the water is heated to a comfortable 80°F (27°C), ensuring you can enjoy the “melting snow” year-round.
Blizzard Beach Tickets
Similarly to the Disney Parks, you’ll need a ticket to visit Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park. There are several different ticket options to choose from depending on how often you plan to visit the water park during your trip. Plus, you may not even need a ticket to visit! Beginning in 2025, Disney World Resort hotel guests can enjoy FREE admission to the water parks on the day they check-in.
Here’s an overview of all your ticket options if you’re not staying at a Disney World Resort hotel or would like to visit after your check-in date:
Single Day Tickets
A 1-Day Water Park Ticket grants you access to Blizzard Beach for a full day of fun. Adult tickets (ages 10+) cost $74, while child tickets (ages 3-9) are priced at $68.
If you’re flexible with your visit dates, consider the 1-Day Water Park Ticket with Blockout Dates. This option offers a slight discount, with adult tickets at $64 and child tickets at $58. Keep in mind that these tickets have restrictions on certain peak dates.
Both ticket types allow entry to either Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon, depending on which park is open on your chosen date.
Park Hopper Plus
The Park Hopper Plus option adds water park access to your theme park tickets. This add-on allows you to visit multiple Disney World theme parks and water parks on the same day.
With Park Hopper Plus, you get a set number of water park entries based on the length of your theme park ticket. For example, a 4-day ticket includes 4 water park entries. It is important to note that this is the most expensive ticket type, costing $200+ per person, per day depending on when you visit.
This option is ideal if you plan to explore both Disney’s theme parks and water parks (along with other select experiences like miniature golf) multiple times during your vacation. It offers flexibility and potential savings compared to purchasing separate tickets.
Water Park and Sports Add On To Theme Park Tickets or Annual Pass
If you’ve already purchased Disney theme park tickets or an annual pass, you can add on access to the water parks for an additional fee. The cost to add water park access to a theme park ticket is about $70 per person on top of the cost of your park ticket or $99 on top of an annual pass. This add-on provides access to both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach for the entire duration of the theme park ticket or annual pass.
Water Park Seasonal Pass
For frequent visitors or extended stays, the Water Park Seasonal Pass offers unlimited admission to Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon for a full season. It can be very cost-effective if you’re frequenting the water parks, costing $79 per person in 2024.
The Water Park Seasonal Pass typically includes some blockout dates during peak periods. Be sure to check the current pricing and date restrictions when planning your visit to ensure you’ll get the most value out of the pass.
Blizzard Beach Park Hours
Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park typically operates from 10AM to 5PM during its open season. However, the park’s schedule can vary based on the time of year and weather conditions so it’s important to check Disney’s website or the My Disney Experience app for the most up-to-date park hours before your visit.
You should note that over the past five years, Disney has opened the water parks on an alternating schedule with Typhoon Lagoon typically being open in the summer while Blizzard Beach is closed for refurbishment and Blizzard Beach opening in the winter months (usually November-February) while Typhoon Lagoon is closed for refurbishment.
Getting to Blizzard Beach
Transportation to Disney’s Blizzard Beach can be a bit tricky. You’ll usually need to take a bus that stops at Disney’s Animal Kingdom first. From there, you may be taken directly to Blizzard Beach or you may need to transfer to another bus heading to the water park. This two-step process applies to most Disney resort hotels.
During peak seasons, direct bus service may be available from your resort. Be sure to check with your hotel’s front desk for the most up-to-date transportation options.
If you’re driving, you’re in luck! Blizzard Beach offers free parking for all guests. Simply follow the signs to the water park’s designated lot.
What To Do
Blizzard Beach offers a variety of attractions for guests of all ages. From thrilling slides to relaxing pools, there’s something for everyone at this winter-themed water park.
Chairlift
The Chairlift provides a scenic ride to the top of Mount Gushmore. You’ll glide over the park, taking in panoramic views of the attractions below. This leisurely journey lasts about 3 minutes and drops you off near Summit Plummet and Slush Gusher.
The Chairlift is not just transportation, but an attraction in itself. It’s a great way to cool off between slides and plan your next adventure. Just remember to secure loose items before boarding, as the ride can be breezy.
Cross Country Creek
Cross Country Creek is a lazy river that winds around the entire park. You can float along in a tube, enjoying the cool water and wintery scenery. The entire journey around takes about 20-30 minutes, but you can stop along the way if you’d prefer.
As you float down the river, you’ll pass through ice caves and under refreshing waterfalls. Watch out for the “melting snow” from dripping ice formations overhead! Inner tubes are provided at entry points around the creek.
Melt-Away Bay Wave Pool
Melt-Away Bay is a one-acre wave pool at the base of Mount Gushmore. Gentle waves ripple across the surface, creating a beach-like experience. The pool ranges from zero-depth entry to 6 feet deep.
Every 90 seconds, a horn signals the start of new waves. You can body surf or simply enjoy bobbing in the water. Life jackets are available for less confident swimmers.
Tike’s Peak
If you have little ones in tow, Tike’s Peak is the place to be! It was recently re-themed to feature characters from Disney’s Frozen. So your little ones can play on the small water slides and enjoy the water play areas with Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and his Snowgies.
Slides and pools here are designed for kids under 48 inches tall.
Ski Patrol Training Camp
Ski Patrol Training Camp is designed for pre-teens who want more adventure than Tike’s Peak but may not be quite ready for the big slides. This area offers a mix of slides and activities including a rope swing that drops you into 8-foot deep water, three slides of varying heights, and a glacier-themed obstacle course.
The area also has a dedicated ice flow training slide where you can practice on inner tubes. It’s a great transition zone for kids growing into more thrilling attractions.

With a lower intensity level, Snow Stormers is suitable for most guests. The height requirement is only 32 inches, making it accessible to younger visitors.
Runoff Rapids
Runoff Rapids features three inner tube slides that each offer different experiences. One slide is enclosed, while the other two are open-air. All of the slides wind through a forested area, adding to the theming of a melting ski resort. The varying designs of each slide will make you want to try all three!
You can take these on solo or with a partner on a double tube. Just note that Runoff Rapids has a 48-inch height requirement for single riders and 32 inches for those accompanied by a supervising companion.
Toboggan Racers
Toboggan Racers is an eight-lane racing slide where you and seven other guests compete to reach the bottom first. Lying face-down on a mat, you’ll zip down the straightaway, feeling the rush of competition.
With a 32-inch height requirement, this attraction is great for families to enjoy together. The side-by-side format adds a fun element to the experience and the winner obviously gets bragging rights. Water sprays between lanes increase the fun.
Downhill Double Dipper
This racing slide pits you against another guest in a timed competition. You’ll sit in an inner tube and race down parallel enclosed slides, with your time displayed at the bottom. The Downhill Double Dipper reaches speeds of up to 25 mph.
The slide has a 48-inch height requirement and is perfect for those who enjoy a bit of friendly competition.
Teamboat Springs
Teamboat Springs is one of the world’s longest family raft rides. This winding 1,200-foot long slide accommodates up to six riders per raft, making it ideal for larger groups and families. It’s not the most thrilling ride at Blizzard Beach, but it’s a nice ride down with gentle slopes and some steeper drops.
With a 32-inch height requirement, even your little ones can join in on the fun.
