Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort

About Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort

Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort is a Walt Disney World value resort in the Animal Kingdom Resort Area. It is one of three resorts in the “All-Star” trio, including All-Star Movies and All-Star Music. All value resorts are designed “motel-style” with exterior hallways and room doors. The resort was built in the 1990s but has recently undergone extensive refurbishments.

The theme here is, as you might guess, sports! Larger-than-life sports icons surround guests throughout each uniquely sports-themed section. As you make your way to and from your room, you’ll find decorations with classic Disney characters playing their favorite sports.

Disney’s value resorts tend to be a more “gimmicky” Disney, catering more toward young families and fans of classic Disney movies compared to something like Disney’s Yacht Club.

Here’s a look at the resort map to give you an idea of how large it is:

Accommodations

Frequently considered one of the busiest value resorts at Walt Disney World, All-Star Sports has over 1,900 rooms with five themed sections: Surfs Up! Homerun Hotel, Center Court, Hoops Hotel, and Touchdown!

Within each section, each building has three floors, and elevators are located centrally in each building.

Each building’s exterior is heavily themed to its namesake, designed with a more kid-centric approach versus resorts in the moderate and deluxe categories. Though the rooms themselves are not themed to their building design, the outsides of the buildings and central section common areas are heavily themed to their sport.

Rooms

All-Star Sports offers two room categories including Standard Rooms and Preferred Rooms. While the inside of the rooms are the same regardless of the category, the preferred rooms’ location makes them desirable. Preferred Rooms give guests closer access to pools, shops, dining, and transportation. They are in the Surfs Up! and Touchdown! Buildings.

Room layouts feature a standard queen bed and a second queen Murphy bed. These Murphy beds are a great addition to the newly renovated rooms, giving guests a small seating area and more walking space during the day.

Measuring just about 260 square feet, these rooms are some of the smallest rooms at Walt Disney World.

In-Room Amenities

Each room offers a coffee maker with an assortment of coffees and teas, multiple drawers and storage locations, plenty of charging stations, an ironing board, a hair dryer, and shower essentials. Bathrooms have one sink, limited counter space, and a shower/tub combination.

A new feature in Walt Disney World rooms is “Hey Disney,” Disney’s version of an Echo or Alexa. This virtual assistant is available for guests to ask questions about park hours, restaurants, etc., and something to keep the kids occupied! “Hey Disney!” offers Disney trivia, storytelling, interactive games, and more.

All-Star Sports is a great location for large groups on a budget and is the primary resort location for groups with events happening at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Dining Options

Since All-Star Sports is a value resort, there are no table service, character dining, or signature dining restaurants on the property. Instead, there is a food hall that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and a pool bar.

End Zone Food Court

End Zone Food Court is in Stadium Hall, open from 6:30AM to 11PM (hours are subject to change). Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served here, as well as fresh fruits, pastries, coffees, and grab-and-go snacks.

While value resorts do not offer any additional dining options, their food court offers much more variety than others on the Disney World property. Multiple stations within the food court make the ordering process run smoothly, even though this is one of the busiest value resorts.

Grandstand Spirits Pool Bar

Grandstand Spirits Pool Bar, located right outside the pool gate, is open from 12PM to 11PM (hours are subject to change). Here you can find a full liquor bar as well as beers, wines, and specialty cocktails.

Amenities & Recreation

All-Star Sports offers many different fun things to do outside of the Disney theme parks.

Stadium Hall

Stadium Hall is All-Star Sports’ main building. It houses the check-in area and concierge, dining options, shopping, and recreation, such as the arcade. The lobby offers seating for guests waiting on transportation and a television playing popular Disney music videos to entertain kids of all ages.

Pools

There are two pools within Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort property. Restrooms and laundry areas are located outside of both pools. Loungers, chairs, and towels are located on the pool decks, and some tables with umbrella coverage. Umbrellas are sporadically placed around pool loungers, so be sure to pack your sunscreen as there may not be many shady spots.

The Surfboard Bay Pool is the main pool located behind Stadium Hall. It is where all recreational pool activities, such as kid’s relay games, trivia, and pool games, take place. Music is also typically played around the Surfboard Bay Pool.

Grand Slam Pool is situated within the Homerun Hotel buildings, as it is the smaller, quieter pool of the two. Goofy is on the pitcher’s mound, spraying water toward home plate. No activities occur at this pool, but there are loungers and tables for guests to sunbathe and eat lunch.

Additional Activities

While the All-Star Resorts may not offer the most amenities, plenty remains to keep the kiddos entertained around All-Star Sports.

Nestled between the Surfs Up! and Touchdown buildings is the playground area. One large and one smaller playground is situated on a sandy playing field. Shady areas and benches surround the area, allowing adults to relax while the kids play.

Within Stadium Hall is the Game Point Arcade. Basketball, air hockey, racing games, and more are available in this arcade. Game card machines are located in the arcade. Just use your credit card to add money to your game card, and off you go!

A daily campfire is also offered for one hour each night behind the End Zone Food Court. Complimentary marshmallows and sticks are provided, while smores kits are available. Check the daily activities board for times.

Additionally, Movies Under the Stars are played on select nights at the Surfboard Bay Pool grounds. The movie schedule changes monthly, so be sure to find the daily activities board to see what’s playing during your stay.

And, lastly, a jogging trail is located around the outside of all three All-Star Resorts.

Transportation Options

Though Walt Disney World has multiple transportation options, Disney Bus Transportation is the only complimentary option for All-Star Sports guests. At the front of the resort are five bus stops, where buses pick up and transport guests to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom, and Disney Springs. Guests needing to get to a different resort must take the journey to one of these five locations and then transfer accordingly.

Of course, Minnie Vans, Ubers, or Lyft are available for guests looking to bypass complimentary transportation, but they will come at a charge.

Parking is free for guests with a vehicle at all theme parks and Disney Springs with a resort stay. Self-parking is included in your resort stay.

Pricing

How much does a room at one of Walt Disney World’s cheapest resorts cost?

Rooms at this resort can range from $150 to $300 per night, depending on the season, with the average price hovering around $200 per night. These rooms are typically significantly less than any moderate or deluxe resort on the property, making it a desirable resort location for guests on a budget or for long stays.

Preferred rooms will cost more than standard rooms due to their location.

Guest Benefits

Don’t worry, staying at a value resort doesn’t mean you have to forfeit Disney hotel guest benefits.

Unlike moderate or deluxe resorts, there are no additional benefits compared to the standard Disney resort guest benefits at value resorts. However, the standard Disney resort benefits are worth staying on the property for.

Disney resort guest benefits include:
