Planning a trip to Walt Disney World this fall? October in Disney World is one of the most festive times of the year, filled with Halloween fun, seasonal events, and warm Florida weather. Whether you’re coming for the spooky fun, the foodie favorites, or just to enjoy the parks with a little autumn flair, here’s everything you need to know about crowds, weather, pricing, and what’s new for October 2025 in Disney World!
Disney World Events in October
October in Disney World is one of the best months to visit the parks if you’re looking to get your fall fix without fall weather. All month long, you can head over to EPCOT to taste your way around the world during the Food & Wine Festival. And, over at Magic Kingdom, the park closes on select nights for guests who have purchased Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tickets, giving you the opportunity to experience Disney World’s biggest Halloween event, trick-or-treating included! And, runners (and spectators) will want to mark your calendar for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend, officially kicking off the 2025-2026 runDisney calendar!

Here’s a look at what you can look forward to during your visit in October 2025:
- Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party: October 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 13th, 14th, 16th, 17th, 19th, 23rd, 24th, 26th, 28th, 30th, and 31st, 2025
- EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival: August 28th through November 22nd, 2025
- Disney Season Kickoff Soccer Tournament: October 11th-12th, 2025
- Columbus Day Weekend: October 11th-13th, 2025
- Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend: October 23rd-26th, 2025
- Halloween: October 31st, 2025
Be sure to check Disney’s theme park hours to see how/if any of these events will impact your park day plans.
October in Disney World Crowds
October crowds at Disney World are a bit of a mixed bag, depending on when and where you go.
Holiday weekends like Columbus Day can bring in more vacationers, and you’ll definitely notice heavier traffic around Halloween itself. EPCOT tends to feel the busiest on Friday through Sunday, when locals come to enjoy the Food & Wine Festival alongside out-of-town guests. On the flip side, Magic Kingdom often sees lighter daytime crowds on Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates. So, if you don’t mind wrapping up your visit a little early (the park closes to non-party guests at 6PM), those days are a smart choice for lower wait times and a bit more breathing room.
Should You Purchase Lightning Lane Services?
Because October crowds can swing from light to heavy depending on the day, it’s smart to be selective about when you buy Lightning Lane services. Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are usually where you’ll see the biggest benefit if you’re willing to pay to skip the lines. At EPCOT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, though, you can often get by without it unless you’re working with a shorter park day and really want to pack in all the rides.

Disney World Weather in October
October might bring pumpkins and fall vibes, but in Florida, it’s still very much hurricane season. While direct impacts on Disney World are rare, storms can disrupt travel plans, so it’s always smart to keep an eye on the forecast in the week leading up to your trip. If you’re especially cautious, consider booking a hotel that’s more “hurricane-friendly.” All of the Disney resorts are built with storm safety in mind, and staying on property can make last-minute changes or cancellations easier to handle. Flexibility is key this time of year, just in case Mother Nature decides to be unpredictable.
As for day-to-day weather, October is still warm and humid, with highs often in the 80s. You’ll want lightweight, breathable clothing for the parks, plus a poncho or umbrella for those quick afternoon downpours. Comfortable shoes are a must, and a refillable water bottle will help keep you cool while walking the parks. Since evenings can dip into the 60s, especially late in the month, packing a light jacket or sweater will make those nighttime fireworks a lot more comfortable.

Disney World Water Parks in October
If you’re planning to visit Disney’s water parks during your October trip, keep in mind that Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is closed all month for refurbishment. That leaves Typhoon Lagoon as your only option. But, don’t worry, you won’t be missing out on anything because Typhoon Lagoon is packed with all the water park essentials including a massive wave pool, lazy river, and plenty of slides to keep you cool on those warm Florida afternoons.
And, don’t forget that you can enter both water parks for FREE on the day you check in if you’re staying at a Disney World Resort hotel!

October in Disney World Prices
When it comes to prices, October at Disney World sits in the middle of the pack. You won’t find the rock-bottom rates of early fall, but it’s not quite as expensive as the peak holiday season either. Still, ticket and hotel costs can creep higher around holiday weekends and special events, so timing really matters this month.
