Thinking about booking a cruise on the Disney Magic? Well, there’s a lot to know about the oldest ship in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet! From one-of-a-kind dining experiences to staterooms with gorgeous views and all the activities you can do in between, here’s our complete guide to the Disney Magic cruise ship to help you plan your next cruise!

Disney Magic Cruise Ship Overview
The first ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, Disney Magic debuted in 1998 to introduce Disney’s take on what cruising should look and feel like. As the original cruise ship, Disney Magic is also the smallest ship in the fleet, measuring in at 84,000 gross tons with a guest capacity of 2,700 across 11 passenger decks. A large statue of Helmsman Mickey steering the ship adorns the atrium of Disney Magic, while a depiction of Goofy painting the ship can be found on the stern.

Disney Magic Cruise Ship Itineraries
In 2025 and 2026, Disney Magic is offering a variety of Caribbean sailings, ranging from 3 up to 10 nights and departing from several ports in the U.S. and beyond, including Fort Lauderdale, Galveston, San Juan, Vancouver, San Diego, and Port Canaveral. During Bahamian itineraries, the ship typically stops at one (or both) of Disney Cruise Line’s private islands, Castaway Cay or Lookout Cay.
Disney Magic also offers itineraries to destinations in the Western, Eastern, and Southern Caribbean.

Disney Magic Cruise Ship Dining Options
Disney Magic offers a variety of dining experiences, blending themed meals, fine dining, and casual options to satisfy every palate. Almost all food offerings are included in the cost of your cruise, except the adult-only fine dining restaurant Palo and snacks and sweets at select venues like O’Gills Pub, Soul Cat Lounge, Frozone Treats, and Preludes. Select beverages are included with your cruise fare, including unlimited water, sodas, juices, American coffee, and tea, while alcoholic beverages, specialty coffees, and smoothies are available for an additional fee.
Rotational Dining
Disney Cruise Line’s rotational dining lets guests enjoy three themed restaurants throughout the duration of their cruise in place of one main dining room. What makes it extra special is that the same dedicated service team rotates along with you, getting to know you and your family’s preferences so they can provide a uniquely Disney touch.
Rapunzel’s Royal Table
Disney Magic’s headlining Tangled-themed restaurant offers German-inspired dishes, live musical entertainment, and appearances by Rapunzel and her friends. Your dining experience here is meant to be a celebratory feast filled with song and dance to welcome the long-locked princess on her birthday, a key moment in the animated film.

Animator’s Palate
Animator’s Palate is a classic Disney Cruise Line restaurant that has evolved over time on newer ships. It honors the art of Disney storytelling and the animated films we’ve all come to know and love. But, the original offers a unique dining experience where the entire black-and-white restaurant comes to life with bursts of color and screens revealing interactive sketches that make you feel like you’re part of an animator’s studio. The menu features a fusion of Asian, Pacific Islands, and California cuisine. Don’t miss the stuffed pasta appetizer of black truffle purseittes — it is a fan-favorite among Disney cruise-goers!

Lumière’s
Inspired by Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, this elegant restaurant is named after the film’s candelabra character. It serves French-inspired dishes like escargot, French onion soup, and duck breast in a sophisticated setting. But don’t be intimidated by these foreign flavors – there are also more familiar dishes like salmon and a roasted filet steak for traditional eaters.
Casual Dining

Cabanas
Disney Cruise Line’s beach boardwalk-themed buffet serves a variety of international options for breakfast and lunch. Aside from the standard buffet fare, there are also a few unique Disney twists. This includes Mickey waffles at breakfast, and an unlimited raw bar of peel-and-eat shrimp and crab legs at lunch. Notably, there is no dinner buffet on Disney Magic.
Duck-In Diner
This quick service grill on the pool deck has everything you’d want from a poolside food stand and more. Come here for burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, and even Middle Eastern-style shaved gyros and shawarma.
Pinocchio’s Pizzeria
This poolside stand offers pizza by the slice with classic toppings like pepperoni, veggies, and the classic Hawaiian combo of ham and pineapple.
Daisy’s De-Lites
When you’re craving lighter fare, this poolside spot serves salads, wraps, sandwiches, and fresh fruit.
Eye Scream
This self-service soft-serve ice cream station on the pool deck is a hit with the kids and parents alike. Grab a cone and fill it with your favorite soft-serve flavor (usually chocolate, vanilla, and an extra rotating flavor) or a swirl.
Frozone Treats ($)
For an extra fee, this smoothie stand on the pool deck is where you can order frozen fruit smoothies and—most importantly—Dole Whip.

Adults-Only Dining
Palo ($)
This upscale Italian restaurant with floor-to-ceiling ocean views is the only adult-exclusive dining venue on Disney Magic. Named for Italy’s famed Venetian poles known as palo, the restaurant honors the cruise ship’s origin (at Fincantieri’s shipyards in Italy) and thus serves a menu of Northern Italian cuisine.
Reservations are required, and there is an upcharge for dining here. For dinner, guests can choose between a prix fixe menu or order off the à la carte menu as long as the minimum spend matches the restaurant’s cover charge. On sea days, there’s brunch for a set cover fee, and the format changes, as you can order anything you want off the food menu.
The food quality at Palo is notably elevated, and so is the service – making it a popular pick for adults celebrating special occasions or looking for a relaxed and romantic evening. If you’re interested in experiencing the unlimited brunch offering, plan to reserve early – as in, as soon as you book your cruise. Since it’s only offered on sea days, these spots fill up fast.
Room Service
Room service is available 24 hours a day on Disney Magic, and most room service items on Disney Cruise Line are complimentary for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Continental breakfast items are available for delivery from 5AM to 9:30AM, and the all-day menu (think burgers, soup, salads, dessert) is available outside of breakfast hours. Fun fact: Mickey ice cream bars can be ordered through room service, which essentially means your Disney cruise includes unlimited Mickey ice cream bars!
Disney Magic Cruise Ship Bars and Lounges
The Disney Magic has a designated adult district of bars and lounges for evening entertainment and cocktails called After Hours, as well as a family-friendly live music lounge. All venues charge for alcoholic and specialty drinks, but we’ve added a dollar sign for venues that also serve food for a fee.
Keys
Disney Magic’s piano lounge offers a quiet, sophisticated atmosphere with cocktails, wine, and live music as the pianist tickles the keys.

Fathoms
Head to this lively nightclub within the After Hours district if you’re looking to take a night off from the kids and go dancing.
O’Gills Pub ($)
This traditional Irish pub and sports bar is the perfect spot for catching a game or grabbing a casual drink. Order from a menu of beers on draft, specialty Irish cocktails, and a small selection of pub-style snacks for an a la carte fee.
Signals Bar
This poolside bar adjacent to the adult-only Quiet Cove Pool offers refreshing cocktails and beverages with a view.
Cove Café ($)
Notably, the coffee shop on Disney Cruise Line is tucked away in an adult-only area near the Quiet Cove Pool, making it a quiet retreat for reading, working, or unwinding with a cup of coffee. The café serves specialty coffees, teas, alcoholic coffee drinks, and complimentary pastry snacks.
PRO TIP: If you are a coffee lover, be sure to ask for a coffee card, where every 6th coffee is free!

Soul Cat Lounge ($)
This all-ages venue themed after the Disney movie Soul is designed to feel like a NYC-style jazz lounge with live music, trivia, and drinks for all ages. In addition to wine and cocktails, Soul Cat Lounge serves a few snacks and freshly fried zeppole for a fee.
Preludes ($)
If your family wants to grab a drink or popcorn before the nightly shows at the Walt Disney Theater, this concession stand just outside the theater sells bags of popcorn (and popcorn buckets!) for a small fee.

Disney Magic Cruise Ship Onboard Activities
Where Disney Cruise Line truly shines is its world-class entertainment – this is Disney, after all! There’s no shortage of entertainment and activities aboard the Disney Magic, from meet-and-greets with Disney characters to first-run movie screenings and much more.
Pool Deck Activities
Goofy’s Pool
This central family pool located midship is where all the main action happens – from deck parties and games to poolside movies on the 24-foot screen.
AquaLab
Featuring Huey, Dewey, and Louie, the AquaLab is like a mega-splash zone on the pool deck, with geysers and spouts of water for kids to play in, plus a Twist ‘n’ Spout double-looping waterslide.

Nephews’ Splash Zone
This enclosed water play area with small fountains is designed for younger children, ages 3 and under.
AquaDunk
This thrilling body slide has a near-vertical drop that sends riders plunging past the side of the ship in a clear tube that overlooks the water. You’ll enter vertically instead of in a seated position, and the floor drops out from under you as you plummet down three stories for a very quick but thrilling ride.

Quiet Cove Pool
This secluded adult pool area is a quiet haven for travelers without children or parents who want to relax while their children are in the Kids Club. There’s also an adult-only bar and coffee shop that are part of the Cove area.
Themed Deck Parties
Sail Away Celebration
Every cruise kicks off in true Disney-style with an energetic deck party of singing, dancing, and appearances by Disney characters.
Pirate Night
For one night only each cruise, guests are encouraged to don their best pirate garb (your stateroom attendant will actually leave pirate bandanas in your cabin the night before) and enjoy some swashbuckling fun with a themed menu in the rotational dining restaurants. A family-friendly party of singing, dancing, and character meet-and-greets with Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Hook, and Mr. Smee takes place in between meal times. And then a Pirates in the Caribbean deck party later in the evening, capped off by the only fireworks at sea.
Broadway-Style Shows at Walt Disney Theater

Tangled: The Musical
Disney Magic is the only place where you can witness this stunning Broadway-style musical adaptation of the beloved Disney film Tangled and watch the story of Rapunzel (and everyone’s favorite smoldering thief Flynn Rider) unfold through song and dance.
Twice Charmed
This hilarious musical retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale comes with a twist – what if we rewind time to do it all over again and Prince Charming never finds his Cinderella? In this show, we meet Cinderella’s stepmother’s wicked fairy godfather, who makes it all possible.
Disney Dreams
This heartfelt show is about a schoolgirl who meets Peter Pan and learns to follow her dreams and fly, as she encounters characters from Disney classics like Cinderella, Frozen, Aladdin, and The Lion King – which allows for stunning musical scenes with songs from the movies.
Other Activities
Buena Vista Theatre
Watch first-run Disney movies and other beloved classics with the family in this 278-seat cinema inspired by Old Hollywood.
D Lounge
This family-friendly venue hosts activities like karaoke, trivia, game shows, and dance parties throughout the cruise.
Character Meet-and-Greets
Meet Mickey, Minnie, and the whole gang for photographs or autograph signings in the Atrium throughout your sailing and during shows like pool deck parties or at dining venues that include entertainment, like Rapunzel’s Royal Table. On any Disney cruise, there are endless opportunities to meet princesses and characters you won’t find in the parks, and some even dressed up for Pirate Night or special holidays on seasonal sailings for Halloween and Christmas.

Royal Court Royal Tea ($)
For little princesses and princes ages 3 to 12, this fanciful afternoon tea event features herbal teas, sweet and savory bites, keepsake gifts, and special meet-and-greet moments with beloved Disney Princesses. Reservations are required.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique ($)
Much like at the theme parks, the little ones can get dolled up at sea and be transformed into Disney princesses or even pirates for Pirate Night. Reservations are required.
Senses Spa & Fitness Center ($)
For adults looking to unwind, the Senses Spa & Salon offers treatments like massages, facials and mani-pedis, along with a Rainforest Room thermal suite, while the fitness center provides state-of-the-art equipment.

Disney Magic Cruise Ship Kids Clubs
No cruise line matches Disney’s kids’ programming with distinct supervised clubs for every age group. Here is a breakdown of each of the kids’ clubs on Disney Magic.
It’s a Small World Nursery (6 months to 3 years)
This themed nursery is a paid babysitting service, which sets it apart from the rest of the kids clubs. Reservations are required, and it’s the only children’s area with a fee. In this whimsical space, your littlest ones are cared for by trained counselors and can enjoy games, toys, crafts, books, movies, and visits from Disney characters. Cribs are available for the tiniest tots’ naptime.

Oceaneer Club and Lab (Ages 3–10)
In these two connected kids club spaces, younger and older siblings can stay and play together in different areas – each designed for different age groups. The immersive themed spaces in Oceaneer Club are headlined by a larger-than-life version of Andy’s room from Toy Story, where kids can create their own Mr. Potato Head and slide down a Slinky Dog slide, and Marvel Super Hero Academy, where kids can enjoy arts & crafts or video games, play with Thor’s hammer and Captain America’s shield, and meet superheroes with appearances from Marvel characters. Kids can also enter the worlds of their favorite Disney Junior pals or visit the fanciful forest of Pixie Hollow, home to Tinker Bell and her fairy friends.
Meanwhile, Oceaneer Lab down the hallway is a nautical-themed high-seas hub for the imagination, with areas for arts and crafts, video games, movies, an Animator’s Studio where kids can learn to sketch Disney characters, and The Wheelhouse with large-screen TVs and navigation simulators where kids can pretend their steering their own ship.

Edge (Ages 11–14)
This dedicated club for tweens ages 11-14 looks like a boiler room – but with flat-screen TVs, video games, and a dance floor. Edge also hosts social activities for the kids, such as karaoke, scavenger hunts, selfie stations, and themed party nights.
Vibe (Ages 14–17)
This trendy teen lounge housed in the Forward Funnel of the ship feels like a hip urban loft where teens can kick back and watch movies, listen to music, and play virtual reality games.
Why Choose the Disney Magic Cruise Ship?
Given there are now five newer ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet – including the brand-new Disney Treasure – there’s no denying that the Disney Magic might not be the first pick of the bunch for many cruisers. But if you’re a Disney enthusiast looking to experience DCL’s original ship that inspired it all, or a family looking for a more affordable entry point to Disney cruising, the Disney Magic may be the choice for you.
This smaller-scale, classic ship may also feel more approachable for first-time cruisers or even traditional cruise goers while still offering everything you’d want from a Disney cruise – enchanting dining experiences, world-class entertainment, and top-tier kids’ programming.
Whether you’re a child meeting your favorite characters, a parent enjoying a Broadway-style show, or a couple sipping cocktails in an adults-only lounge, the Disney Magic ship offers a blend of classic nautical elegance, family-friendly amenities, and, well, that unique Disney magic you can’t get anywhere else.
