But, there’s another park that most people don’t think to visit during their vacation that offers just as much, PLUS the ability to relax and get a break from the summer heat – Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon!

Typhoon Lagoon is one of two water parks in Disney World. And, if you’re thinking about adding it to your Disney itinerary, there are a few things you should know. So, we’re bringing you a look at everything you need to know about Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon including how much tickets cost, what you can do, where you can eat, and more!

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Overview

Typhoon Lagoon is themed to take you into the middle of the aftermath of a tropical storm. The park features a variety of shipwrecks, including the iconic Miss Tilly, a shrimp boat that sits atop Mount Mayday. The tropical theming and attention to detail make for a fun Florida atmosphere.

Typhoon Lagoon has a wide range of attractions, from thrilling water slides for adrenaline seekers to a lazy river for busy vacationers who are ready to relax a bit. Some of the most popular rides include the Crush ‘n’ Gusher water coaster, the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, and the Ketchakiddee Creek play area for younger children.

If you’re looking to relax and soak up the sun, Typhoon Lagoon offers plenty of lounging areas and even a beach. You can rent chairs and umbrellas, or take advantage of the many shaded areas throughout the park.

And, when it comes to food and drink, Typhoon Lagoon has plenty of options. From quick snacks to full meals, there’s something for everyone. You can also purchase refillable mugs that can be used throughout the day.

With its immersive theming, wide range of attractions, and convenient location, it’s the perfect place to take a break from the theme parks but still be immersed in the Disney magic. So, let’s dive into the details!

Typhoon Lagoon Tickets

Just like the Disney Parks, you’ll need a ticket to visit Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. And, there are several different ticket options to choose from depending on how often you plan to visit the water park during your trip. And, starting in 2025, Disney World Resort hotel guests won’t even need a ticket if you visit! Disney is introducing a new hotel guest perk that gives anyone staying at a Disney World Resort FREE admission to the water parks on the day you check-in.

But, if you plan to go to Typhoon Lagoon later in your trip, or if you’re not staying at a Disney hotel, here are your ticket options:

Single Day Tickets

For those who only plan on visiting Typhoon Lagoon for one day, single-day tickets are available for purchase. As of 2024, a single-day ticket without blockout dates costs $74 for guests aged 10 and above, and $68 for guests aged 3-9. If you don’t mind having a few days of the year blocked out, tickets are a bit cheaper costing $64 per adult and $58 per child. These tickets provide access to all of the water park’s attractions and amenities for the entire day and must be used in the same calendar year.

Note that Annual Passholder and Disney Vacation Club discounts may be available.

Water Park and Sports Add On To Theme Park Tickets or Annual Pass

If you’ve already purchased Disney theme park tickets or an annual pass, you can add on access to the water parks for an additional fee. As of 2024, the cost to add on water park access to a theme park ticket is about $70 per person on top of the cost of your park ticket or $99 on top of an annual pass. This add-on provides access to both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach for the entire duration of the theme park ticket or annual pass.

Water Park Seasonal Pass

If you plan on visiting Typhoon Lagoon multiple times throughout the year, a water park annual pass may be a good option. As of 2024, a seasonal pass to the water parks costs $79 per person through May 24th, 2024. This pass is usually offered on an annual basis and provides unlimited access to both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

Park Hopper Plus

Another option for guests who plan on visiting multiple parks during their stay is the Park Hopper Plus ticket. This ticket provides access to all four Disney theme parks, as well as both water parks and other select attractions. As of 2024, the cost for a Park Hopper Plus ticket starts at $207 per person, per day.

Typhoon Lagoon Park Hours

Just like theme park hours, the operating hours at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon can vary a lot depending on when you’re visiting. So, it’s important to plan ahead and check the schedule before your trip.

During the colder months (typically from January to February) the park is open from 10AM to 5PM. From March to May, the park is usually open from 10AM to 6PM. And, during the summer months (usually from June to August), the park is open from 10AM to 8PM. It’s worth noting that these hours are subject to change, so it’s always a good idea to check the official Walt Disney World website for the most up-to-date information.

Special events, such as H2O Glow Nights, are also offered on select dates of the year if you’d like extra time in the water park with lower crowd levels. Just note that these require an additional special event ticket on top of the cost of your park ticket.

Typhoon Lagoon does close for refurbishment on an annual basis. Over the past few years, the water park has closed sometime in November and reopened in March. However, this does change on a year-to-year basis. When Typhoon Lagoon is closed, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is open. So, you’ll always have at least one water park option available even if it’s not Typhoon Lagoon!

Castaway Creek

Castaway Creek is a relaxing and scenic lazy river that circles the entire park. You can enjoy a leisurely float on inner tubes as you pass through waterfalls, misty caves, and lush greenery. All ages are welcome and is a great way to take a break from the more thrilling attractions at the park.

Surf Pool

The Surf Pool is one of the park’s most popular attractions. It is a massive wave pool that generates waves up to six feet tall (which makes it North America’s largest wave pool!). The waves are timed at specific intervals and you can find the schedule on the chalkboard near the edge of the beach. Just note that inner tubes are not permitted in the pool, so we recommend that you keep a close eye on kids and anyone who is not a strong swimmer.

Mountain Trail

Prefer to stay dry? Tour the park on the Mountain Trail! The elevated walking path takes you past the Surf Pool, over Castaway Creek, to the entrance to Humunga Kowabunga, and ends at Storm Slides. This is the only dry attraction at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.

Ketchakiddee Creek

Ketchakiddee Creek is a water play area designed specifically for young children. The area features shallow pools, small slides, and interactive water features that are perfect for kids to splash around in. Parents can relax in a shaded area while their little ones have fun in the sun.

Bay Slides

Gangplank Falls

Humunga Kowabunga

Mayday Falls

Mayday Falls is the tallest and longest water slide at Typhoon Lagoon featuring a series of twists, turns, and drops. This is a single-rider tube slide, so you’ll be going down at your own pace (which is often quite fast!).

Miss Adventure Falls

Miss Adventure Falls is a family-friendly raft ride that features a series of twists, turns, and drops. It is the newest attraction at the water park and is themed to take you throught the artifact collection of Captain Mary Oceaneer who is a S.E.A. member (a secret society that is part of Disney lore). The large rafts can accommodate two to four people, so be sure to bring a few friends and family members along for the ride!

Keelhaul Falls

Keelhaul Falls is a thrilling raft ride that takes riders on a journey through a series of twists, turns, and drops. The ride features large rafts that can accommodate up to four people, making it a great choice for families or groups.

Storm Slides

Singapore Sal’s is the largest (and only) merchandise location at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. It offers a wide selection of beachwear, towels, and other essentials. You can also find a variety of souvenirs and gifts, including t-shirts, hats, and plush toys featuring your favorite Disney characters. There are also lockers, changing rooms, and an ATM here.

Water Park Upgrades & Rentals

Locker Rentals

If you don’t want to risk anything being stolen while you’re enjoying all the attractions at Typhoon Lagoon, you’ll want to consider renting a locker. Locker rentals are available near the front of the park and cost $10 to $20 for a full day. You can purchase your locker rental at any of the digital kiosks by the lockers. Just note that lockers can sell out, so we recommend doing this when you first get to the park.

Towel Rentals

You can also rent towels at Typhoon Lagoon to avoid having to bring them from home or your hotel. It currently costs $2 per towel rental, though this is subject to change. Currently, towels are free for anyone staying at a Disney World Resort hotel. Just be sure that your hotel reservation is linked to your My Disney Experience account.

Getaway Glen Umbrellas

If you want to guarantee yourself some shade and seating, you can consider making a reservation for Getaway Glen Umbrellas, This reserved seating area costs between $49 to $99 plus tax and includes a beach umbrella, two reserved loungers, two beach chairs, a drink table, and towels. Same-day reservations can be made on a first-come, first-served basis, or you can call (407) WDW-PLAY to make a reservation in advance.

Beachcomber Shacks

Beachcomber Shacks are private cabanas that can be rented for the day. These shacks come with a variety of amenities, including towels, cushioned seating, a locker, refillable drink mugs, and a cooler filled with ice and water. Beachcomber Shacks can accommodate up to six guests, making them a great option for families or groups of friends. These cost around $350 per shack.

Open Surf

If you already know how to surf, you can spend the morning or evening riding the waves in the Surf Pool with other guests! Open surf is offered 3 hours before the park opens or 3 hours after the park closes and costs between $245 to $310 depending on the date and time your surfing.

Private Surf Lessons

For those who want a more personalized experience, private surf lessons are available. These lessons are tailored to your individual skill level and can be a great way to improve your surfing skills or learn new techniques. Private surf lessons are designed for groups of up to 25 people and pricing starts at $1,300.

Typhoon Lagoon and The Weather

When planning a visit to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, it’s important to consider the weather conditions. The water park is open year-round, but the weather in Orlando, Florida can be unpredictable.

During the summer months, the temperatures can reach up to 90°F (32°C) with high humidity, which is great for a pool day. However, in the winter months, temperatures can drop to as low as 50°F (10°C). While the water in the park remains heated, consider extra layers of clothing to stay warm when they are not in the water.

It’s also important to note that, in the event of inclement weather, the park may close temporarily for the safety of its guests.
